A local man is dead after reportedly crashing his motorcycle into another vehicle last week.
The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Clarence Farmer, of Locust Grove.
The collision took place Friday at approximately 5:15 p.m., at the intersection of Ga. Highway 81 and Steeplechase Drive in McDonough, according to Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton.
"A Chevrolet Malibu driven by an 82-year-old female pulled out onto Highway 81 east from Steeplechase Drive, and collided with a Suzuki motorcycle that was traveling east on [the highway]," said Bolton.
"Farmer ... was transported to Grady [Memorial Hospital] by Emory Flight. He died the following day from his injuries," Bolton said.
Emergency personnel from the McDonough Fire Department were at the scene shortly after the crash occurred. Fire Chief Steve Morgan said Farmer's motorcycle hit the Malibu on the front end of the vehicle, causing a significant impact.
"[Farmer] was thrown approximately 25 feet," said Morgan.
The fire chief continued that Highway 81 was shut down in both directions for "a couple of hours," while authorities initiated an investigation into the crash.
Capt. Bolton described the police department's investigation of the incident as "ongoing."
