Dec. 7

The Henry County Board of Commissioners will have its regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m., in the Conference Room of the County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough. Call (770) 288-6000.

Chapter 1829 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), which serves Henry County, will have a gala holiday lunch meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Benton House of Covington, 7155 South Deering Road, in Covington. Dec. 13

The Henry County Soil and Water Conservation District will meet on Dec. 13, at 8 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Aubrey Harvey Agricultural Building, 333 Phillips Drive, McDonough. Call (770) 761-3020.

The Henry County Board of Assessors has canceled its Dec. 27, meeting. Instead, the board will meet to conduct regular business on Dec. 13, at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held in the County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, in McDonough. Dec. 21

The Henry County Retired Educators Association will meet on Dec. 21, in the Shiloh Baptist Church Education Building, 253 Macon St., in McDonough. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m., and the Luella High School choir will provide music. Each member is asked to bring a covered dish along with an unwrapped toy, which will be presented to the guest, Michelle Hammond, with the Henry County Department of Family and Children's Services (DFACS), for needy children in Henry County. The McDonough Veterans Information and Referral Office is located on the first floor of McDonough City Hall, at 136 Keys Ferry St., to assist area veterans and their families. The office is staffed by volunteers, and is open on Tuesdays, from 10 a.m., until noon, and Thursdays, from 1 p.m., to 3 p.m.

The Henry County NAACP meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from 7 p.m., to 8 p.m., at Fairview Elementary School, 458 Fairview Road, in Stockbridge. The meetings are open to the public. Call (404) 433-3290, or (770) 389-6277.
