The McDonough Police Department has released the identity of a dead body found in the city earlier this month.
Major Kyle Helgerson, of the Criminal Investigations Division, said no foul play was noted during the death investigation. The man’s body was found Aug. 3, in a wooded area behind the Walden Run apartments, located at 100 Walden Run Place.
The body has been identified as that of Timothy Allen Bintliff, 50.
“Dental records that were obtained during the investigation satisfied the requirements of the medical examiner for a positive identification on the victim,” said Maj. Helgerson.
Bintliff’s decomposed body was discovered behind the 600 building of the McDonough apartment complex.
Reportedly, he was last seen on July 24, according to officials.
At the time when Bintliff’s body was discovered, police said there was some evidence suggesting he may have been sleeping in the wooded area, according to Detective R. Gardner.
“The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition,” said Henry County Deputy Coroner Elaine Starr.
Bintliff was transported to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, added Starr.
“[His death] still appears to be a natural death,” said Maj. Helgerson.
