Moose Teens Car Wash & Yard Sale will be held in the parking lot of the Henry County Moose Lodge 2170, located at 91 Hunters Chase, in McDonough. The Car Wash & Yard Sale is scheduled for June 11, from 8 a.m,. until 4 p.m. Patrons are asked to donate items Moose Teens can sell in the yard sale. Items can be dropped off at the lodge from June 8, through June 10. Donors are asked to put "teen yard sale" on the items offered. The cost of a car wash is a donation only. There will be hot, boiled peanuts and hot dogs for sale. All proceeds will go to the Moose Teen Club for future functions and events.
The City of Hampton is sponsoring a Farmers Market every Friday until Sept. 30, from 2 p.m., until 6 p. m. The open market will be held at 2 West Main St. Fruits, vegetables, arts and crafts, will be available. Gezzo's Surf and Grill has set up a donation center to help the Christian Women's Center, in Griffin, recover from the storms that hit Spalding County on April 27. Wal-Mart gift cards, as well as clothes, hair brushes, and basic toiletries are sought. Donations are being accepted at Gezzo's,1866 Jonesboro Road, in McDonough, Ga. 30253. Stylista Groupe LLC will host a Tween Style Affaire event, for girls, ages 9 to 12. All girls will get a "Complimentary VIP Pass" with their parent's registration. All proceeds will benefit the New "Fashion Mentoring Program" being launched this fall. Classes will begin this summer. The style event, summer fashion classes, and Fashion Mentoring Program, will be held at Uniquely Southern Events Boutique, located at 57 McDonough St., in Hampton. Henry County Parks and Recreation Summer Camp registration is open. You can enroll your child now for one week or all summer. Camp lasts eight weeks and there are two sessions. The first is May 31, through July 1. The second, July 11 through July 29. Children, ages 6 to 12, will have camp Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m., to 6 p.m. Teens, 13 to 15, will have camp Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m., until 4 p.m. The cost is $100 per week for children 6 to 12. There will be a Henry County High School Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls (pre-k to rising 10th-graders) June 3; and June 6 through June 9 (8 a.m., to 4 p.m.). The camp is $75 per week, and will be held at the Henry County High School gym. E-mail Coach Rosser at vrosser@henry.k12.ga.us.

Atlanta Motor Speedway will begin its 14th season of Thursday Thunder, on June 2. It will start the Speedway's summer racing series, which features drivers vying to win at Atlanta in Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster Divisions. Thursday Thunder also will debut its newest racing division, the Buzz Cars. These cars allow local racers a chance to compete on a limited budget. Fans will have an opportunity to seek driver autographs and have photos taken with their favorite Thursday Thunder racer on opening night.

Friday Night Drags and Show-N-Shine on Friday nights, through August. Local competitors power up for weekly drag racing among 18 divisions. June 3, Friday Night Drags Season Points Openers, will be held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Each night features street cars, full-blown dragsters, diesel trucks, motorcycles and ATVs, as well as the MCR Safety Show-N-Shine car show, promotional events, fan interaction and special features. "Art in the Park" will be held Saturday, June 4, from 12 p.m., until 5 p.m., on The Square in McDonough. "Art in the Park" will feature artist demonstrations, face-painting, visual, performing and literary arts, and photography. The event is free for artists and open to the public. Pancake and sausage breakfast to benefit 5-year-old Caleb Lam (his dad is a 6-year veteran with the Henry County Police Department.) The breakfast will be held June 4, from 7 a.m., to 11 a.m., at Hampton Masonic Lodge #70, 34 McDonough St. Donations are encouraged. Henry County Cancer Service is sponsoring its first "Runaway Bride Diva Dash 5K" walk/race fund-raiser on June 4, at the Hazelhurst House, located at 77 Sloan St., in McDonough. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the race is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. It is open to all ages. The cost is $15 for pre-registration and $20 on the day of the race, for ages 7 and older. A race T-shirt will be given to each participant. The proceeds from the fund-raiser will be donated to Henry County Cancer Services. Call Susan Hoffman at (678) 410-2227.
