The Henry County Master Gardeners is preparing for its 11th Spring Plant Sale/Clinic fund-raising event.
The fund-raiser is scheduled for Saturday, from 9 a.m., until 3 p.m., according to the organization's publicity co-chair Judy Coker.
Coker said the organization plans to host the plant sale at the Historic Nolan House in Heritage Park, at 99 Lake Dow Road in McDonough.
"The plant sale is being held at the Nolan House so that you can see how the proceeds will be used," said Coker.
She noted all proceeds from the sale will go to help Master Gardeners build a "period garden" at the Historic Nolan House.
"The Nolan House is Circa 1840 and the garden will be designed and planted with this same time period in mind," she said. "You will be able to visit the garden and see plants which would have been in use in mid 19th Century Georgia.
"The Nolan House Garden will provide the community with a unique learning center for garden-lovers and children, and will complement the existing historic village," she continued. "It will also give us a place to host gardening classes and special gardening events."
Coker said master gardeners will be available at the plant sale to advise visitors on their plant purchases -- where to plant (in sun or shade), how to plant, how large their plants will grow, when they bloom, and so on. Plants to be sold are grown by master gardeners. They include perennials, shrubs, and vines.
