The Luxottica Atlanta Service Center is planning the Fourth Annual Eye Run for Vision in McDonough, on April 21, to benefit OneSight.
OneSight is a non-profit organization, with the Luxottica Group Foundation, that focuses on helping improve vision for the needy worldwide, through outreach, research and education.
The organization boasts of having helped more than 7 million people around the world see more clearly, by providing them with hand-delivered vision care and eyewear. It also has granted millions of dollars to research and education since its inception in 1988.
Its annual 5K run/walk, 1 mile fun run/walk and free tot trot will be held at the Luxottica facility located at 100 Greenwood Industrial Parkway in McDonough. Organizers said the event is expected to draw 400 participants and raise more than $15,000 to benefit OneSight programs.
“Our associates love to support OneSight, and take incredible pride in sharing this worthwhile charity with their friends, family and community through Eye Run,” said Pedro Carreras, vice president Luxottica North America Distribution. “This event continues to grow beyond just a race. With music, raffles, a silent auction, face-painting and games for kids, there is truly something for everyone at Eye Run for Vision.”
The event begins at 7:15 a.m., with event-day registration, which lasts until 8:30 a.m. The run/walk starts at 8:45 a.m., followed by a 1-mile fun run/walk at 8:50 a.m. The fund-raiser includes a 9:45 a.m., free tot trot for youngsters ages 9 and under.
Early packet pick-up is Thursday, April 19, from 3 p.m., until 6 p.m., and Friday, April 20, 4 p.m., until 7 p.m., at the event location. Registration forms are available at the Luxottica facility. Online registration also is available until Wednesday, April 18. Register at http://onesight.donordrive.com/event/eyerun2012, or visit www.onesight.org.
