Mr. Charles Humphrey “Chuck” Sullivan, 76, of McDonough, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Aug. 5, 2012. Mr. Sullivan was born in Ladysmith, Wis., the son of the late Leo Pierce and Adeline Rusch Sullivan. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Taber Sullivan; sister, Dorothy Swaenepoel and a brother, George Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan retired from U.S. Government Civil Service as a Quality Assurance Manager with 36-plus years. He was a member of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, where he and his wife were the founders of the “Young At Heart” group and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Sullivan was an AARP driving instructor and worked part-time for Sun Trust Bank following retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling. Survivors are his children, Mark Sullivan, of McDonough, and Melissa (Missy) Campbell and husband, Michael of Marblehead, Mass.; grandchildren, Sara and Shane Smith, Shannon Sullivan, Shelbye Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Kayla Casale, Thomas Casale, Ryan Campbell and Brendan Campbell; great-grandchildren, Baylee and Aiden Smith; sister, Cleo Phelps of St. Louis Park, Minn.; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at St James The Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough with Father Chito Palang officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or St. James The Apostle Catholic Church in memory of Chuck.
