Mrs. Diane Grogan, 66, of McDonough, passed away Aug. 21, 2012. She was born in Trion, Ga., to the late John T. and Jewel Aileen Bethune Allmon. She was a graduate of the Georgia College at Milledgeville and retired after 30 years as a teacher for Clayton County Board of Education, having taught at Morrow Junior High and Lovejoy High Schools. Diane was a member of the Florida and Kansas City Barbecue Societies, where she won many competitions. She enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, reading, shopping, playing slots and having fun with her grandchildren. She was a member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Sam Grogan; daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Deason, of Milledgeville, Jamie (Kevin) Steinmeyer, of Milledgeville, Stephanie (Iqbal) Garcha, of Atlanta; grandchildren, Josie and Allie Jewel Deason, Kylie B. And Presley Steinmeyer, Andrew and Alex Garcha; sister, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Pendergrass, of Lafayette.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research at www.pancan.org in memory of Diane.
