JONESBORO — A McDonough man wanted for murder has been arrested by the Clayton County Sheriff's Fugitive Unit, said authorities.
Capt. Brian Crisp said deputies found Dallas Jarvis Beck, 23, Tuesday at 102 S. Main Street in Jonesboro. Beck had outstanding murder and aggravated battery charges stemming from a shooting Sunday in Riverdale, he said.
Crisp said Beck argued with the victim, who was not identified, and shot the victim once in the head with a 9 mm handgun before fleeing on foot.
The victim was taken from the scene at 5758 Ga. 85 to the hospital and was pronounced dead, said Crisp.
According to Clayton County court records, Beck has a criminal history going back to 2006, when he was 17. At the time of the shooting, Beck was serving First Offender probation for a 2011 theft by receiving stolen property case.
He also has auto theft charges pending against him in Clayton Magistrate Court. According to court records, Beck has a Sept. 6 preliminary hearing date on that July 25 case.
He is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail pending a Sept. 14 hearing.
