STOCKBRIDGE — A senior clinical analyst at Piedmont Henry Hospital, has received the 2012 Ventana Research Information Technology Leadership Award. Patricia Hickey was recognized in the information applications category for patient management.

Hickey has worked at Piedmont Henry for eight years. She has been in the information technology field for 11 years, including 10 years of clinical experience.

She said the award is a “true honor.”

“It would not have been possible without the guidance and opportunities provided by my director, Natalie Wilkerson,” said Hickey. “I, along with the wonderful team of individuals I work with, am truly dedicated to patient safety and the overall patient experience.”

Hickey said she and her co-workers are committed to providing timely and accurate information to staff members interacting with patients and their families.

“It is a privilege to come to Piedmont Henry and make a difference every day,” she said.

Piedmont Henry spokeswoman Michelle Nunnally said the hospital uses a patient management application created with Datawatch Corporation’s information optimization software. She said the software allows the hospital to access information that provides a better understanding of processes affecting a patient’s experience.

“With this information, Piedmont Henry has enhanced its ability to measure and improve patient experiences,” said Nunnally.

Mark Smith is the chief executive officer and chief research officer for Ventana Research. He congratulated Hickey on the award and said Piedmont Henry is using Datawatch’s programs for “a more accurate and interactive view of patient information.”
