McDonough police have arrested a Gwinnett County man suspected of robbing one of the city’s auto parts stores, last year.
Detective R. Gardner said Jahan Joseph Mims, is in the Henry County Jail without bond. Mims was arrested, Monday, and charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment. “But other charges are pending,” added Gardner.
Mims, 24, appeared in Henry County Magistrate Court before Judge Robert Godwin, Tuesday. Judge Godwin bound the case over to Superior Court.
Mims, of Lawrenceville, is accused of robbing the Auto Zone, located at 1645 Georgia Highway 42, North, in McDonough. The incident took place on Dec. 19, at 9:50 a.m., according to police.
Gardner said Auto Zone employees were the only people inside the store at the time of the armed robbery. The detective said Mims tied up the employees using “zip ties.” He also allegedly stole their cell phones and an undisclosed amount of money, according to Gardner.
“He is currently on probation for a robbery he participated in previously, which took place in Gwinnett County,” the detective continued.
The U.S. Marshal Service, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the DeKalb County Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department, assisted with the investigation, and aided McDonough police in identifying and apprehending this suspect, according to Detective Gardner.
“I want to credit the agencies that assisted us with this investigation, mainly the Los Angeles Police Department, who provided a key lead that broke this case,” said Gardner.
