Mr. Ralph J. Boatwright, age 86 of McDonough, Georgia passed away July 9, 2012. He was born in Gilbert Hollow, SC to the late John Mose and Thelma Mae Poole Boatwright. He was preceded in death by siblings, Grady and James Boatwright and Louise Griswell. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII, was owner of R. J. Boatwright Trucking and was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed trucking, NASCAR and watching Gene Autry movies with his Border Collie, Maggie.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, Nancy Harris Boatwright of McDonough; son, Michael (Melinda) Boatwright of Griffin; daughter, Debra (Dennis) Smith of Clermont, FL; grandchildren, Shaun and Cory Boatwright, Jason and Joshua Smith; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Blake, Alexis, Tenley, Ashton, Victoria, Caleb, Jayden, Mason and Corbin.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis G. Smith and the Rev. Mike Henderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta at 2:00 PM with grandson, the Rev. Jason Smith presiding. Friends visited the family Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
