McDONOUGH — Henry County Schools officials plan to hold the school district’s annual open house on Thursday, Aug. 2, at each school.
Open house times for high schools are 1 p.m., until 3 p.m.; middle schools are 3 p.m., until 5 p.m.; and elementary schools are 5 p.m., until 7 p.m.
Parents can learn more about the open house, and more about specific school events, by contacting their school, or visiting their school’s web site.
School officials are also reminding parents that this year school start and finish times will be different from previous years.
Middle-school pupils in the school district will begin classes about 20 minutes later than usual for the 2012-13 school year, to accommodate the district’s new three-tier bus routing system.
Officials said the new system will create separate routes for elementary school, middle school and high school, and it will require most schools to alter their daily start and finish times.
The elementary school bell schedule has not been affected for the 2012-13 school year; the school day will start at 7:55 a.m., and end at 2:30 p.m.
High school bell times have been adjusted to start 20 minutes earlier for the 2012-13 school year, with school beginning at 8:10 a.m., and ending at 3:10 p.m. The middle school schedule also has been adjusted to start 20 minutes later for the 2012-13 school year. Middle school will start at 8:55 a.m., and finish at 3:55 p.m.
For information on school enrollment or the new school bell times, visit the district’s web site at www.henry.k12.ga.us. Henry’s school year begins Monday, Aug. 6, 2012.

The first day of school is always great, you meet your new mates, you see the older ones, you meet new teachers and you find out what new course subjects you will do. Is it this great? Also this day you can choose the optional courses. Personally I can only wait to start school, and this year I will choose Management as an optional course.
