Mr. James R. Bishop, 77, of McDonough, passed away July 13, 2012.  Jim was born in Walterboro, S.C., to the late Heyward Monroe and Florie Jacobs Bishop. 

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Hamrick and siblings, Barbara Johnson and Mel Bishop. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Jones Business College in Jacksonville, Fla., and retired after over 30 years with the Civil Service. Jim was a very patriotic, hard-working and family-oriented man. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post 55.  Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wynette Bishop; sons, Mikki (Shirley) Bishop, of Stockbridge, David (Misty) Bishop, of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Savannah Bishop and James Joseph Bishop; great-grandsons, Danny Ray Hamrick and Dalton James Hamrick; sisters, Ruth Tuck, of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Jean Walker of Savannah, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 18, at 2 p.m., from the Bethany Baptist Church. Rev. Chuck Sheppard and Mr. Jim Lewis will officiate. Entombment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. 

Friends may visit the family Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Jim.
