STOCKBRIDGE — Piedmont Henry Hospital has a new medical director for its Critical Care Unit.

Dr. Hari Madichetty was recently named to the position.

“I am excited to take on this responsibility,” he said. “This is my way of giving back to the community I live in, and my opportunity to bring a higher quality of care to critically injured patients in our local hospital.”

The hospital’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles F. Scott, said the purpose of Madichetty’s position is to accomplish several goals for Piedmont Henry.

“The position of Medical Director for the critical care unit at Piedmont Henry Hospital was created to accomplish several objectives — to facilitate throughput of patients through the critical care unit and the appropriateness of placement of patients in the unit, to enhance quality of care and patient safety in this unit, and to provide medical management of the unit in collaboration with nursing management and administration.”

Madichetty has practiced pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine for approximately seven years. He is Piedmont Henry’s chairman of the Quality Assurance committee, and has served on performance improvement committees at several local hospitals, according to Michelle Nunnally, public relations specialist at the Stockbridge hospital.

“In his new role, Dr. Madichetty will have administrative responsibility for implementation of policies and procedures to improve quality of patient care and patient throughput as well as establish an intensivist program in the critical care unit,” said Nunnally.

Dr. Jagdeep Singh is the vice president and chief medical officer for Piedmont Henry Hospital. He said Madichetty’s experience and leadership will create more opportunities to implement evidenced-based critical care practices. 

“In this capacity, he will be a physician champion in the promotion and improvement of quality of care for our critically ill patients,” said Singh. “Piedmont Henry is on a continuous improvement journey in the areas of patient safety, quality and patient satisfaction.” 

Dr. Madichetty completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary, critical care medicine and sleep medicine at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. He is married and has two children — a 10-year-old daughter, and an 8-year old son.
