Mr. James Junior Hopper, 68, of Hampton, passed away July 28, 2012. He was born in Aragon, Ga., to the late James Perry and Daisy Estella Akins Hopper. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Louise Hopper; daughter, Sheila Denise Nichols Blair; siblings, Betty Marie Garner, Henry Lee Hopper and Buddy Hopper. Junior retired from the City of Atlanta after 28 years and had been employed with the Georgia DOT for 11 years. He was a member of Henry Baptist Church. Junior was a hard-working family man and enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of over 47 years, Linda Bivins Hopper, of Hampton; son, Michael Hopper, of Milner; grandson, Kyle (Samantha) Nichols, of Hampton; great-grandchildren, Madi and Levi Nichols; brothers, Jeff (Sandra) Barber, of McDonough, Eddie Lee Hopper, of McDonough; brother-in-law, Richard Garner, of Canton; uncle, Arthur (Allie Mae) Akins, of Rockmart; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 31, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Archie Norman will officiate. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville. Friends visited the family Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
