Joe Burdett, 82, of Stockbridge, died Friday, June 8, 2012. He was born in Stockbridge, to the late Crayton Zebedie and Lucy Jane Whitworth Burdett.
Joe is survived by his children, Janet and Roger Sasser of Savannah, Tony Burdett of Atlanta, and Tim and Michelle Burdett of Jackson; grandchildren, Heather and Joey Newsome, and Shane and Alissa Sasser; a great-grandson, R.J. Newsome; and a sister, Kathryn Burdett of Jonesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burdett, and a brother, Gus Burdett.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, June 11, at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m., to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 10, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions please be made to the Georgia Tech Athletic Association.
