A Jonesboro woman is in the Henry County Jail, charged with aggravated assault, after she allegedly shot a man in what police suspect was a drug deal gone bad.
Henry County Police Maj. Jason Bolton said Kristin Danielle Jones, 21, of Jonesboro, was apprehended by Clayton County authorities 10 hours after Wednesday’s shooting, in the Clark Meadows subdivision pool parking lot in McDonough.
“The victim, a 21-year-old male [who has been identified by police as Akkeeme Ramaud Mardener, 21, of McDonough], had been shot once while sitting in his vehicle,” said Bolton. “Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a blue Infiniti.”
Bolton said Mardener was transported to Atlanta Medical Center by helicopter in critical condition.
During the course of their investigation, detectives identified Jones as the shooter, continued the major. A lookout was placed on Jones and the vehicle, said Bolton.
Clayton County Police located Jones and the vehicle around 3 a.m., Thursday, near the intersection of Georgia Highway 54 and Georgia Highway 138 in Clayton County, according to police.
“She was transported back to Henry County, where she was interviewed by detectives,” he added. “The investigation is ongoing, but evidence indicates the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone awry.”
Jones is currently in the Henry County Jail, awaiting a first appearance hearing.

It is lovely to have this fine young man in our neighborhood inviting Ms Jones in to cause trouble. Clark Meadows is only a few hundred feet from Hickory Flat Elementary School, where the crime allegedly occurred, so hopefully it will be close enough to a school zone to require additional charges for the two of them.
