Henry County officials are awaiting a medical examiner’s report to determine the cause of death of a man found dead on bench in the playground of the Pleasant Grove Elementary School, located at 150 Reagan Road in Stockbridge.
“Some neighborhood walkers discovered the body at close to 11 a.m., and alerted the staff at the school. The school then called 911 and the SRO [School Resource Officer],” said J.D. Hardin, communications specialist for Henry County Schools.
“A white male in his mid-30s was found sitting on a bench on the school’s playground,” said Henry County Coroner Donald Cleveland. He identified the man as Steven Grindle.
“He had his identification on him,” said Cleveland. “No foul play is suspected at this time. ... We are waiting for the autopsy results from the DeKalb County Medical examiner.”
“[A] preliminary investigation indicates that the victim died of natural causes,” said Henry Police Maj. Jason Bolton.
