Gary Neil Tackett, age 60, born March 1, 1952 in Wise, Virginia to Victor and Rushe Tackett passed away on June 20, 2012, in McDonough, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel with Pastor Ray Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Marilyn Kay Tackett; daughter, Tammy Martin; son-in-law, Eric Martin; grandchildren, Danielle Martin and Dalton Martin of Pleasureville, KY; mother, Rushe Tackett of Wise Virginia; six sisters and their husbands, Jean and Bill Buchanan of Oxford, Ga., Ruth and James Chance of Clarkston, GA., Mary and Carroll Isom of Monticello, IN., Sandra and Jack Starnes of Wise VA., Janice Ewing of Winder, GA., Pamela Feldt, of Monticello, IN.; one brother and his wife, Randy and Theresa Tackett of Wise VA.; father and mother-in-law, Delmon and Gladys Robinette of McDonough, GA; sister-in-law, Jennifer Linderman of Deland, FL.; aunt, Bertha Tackett of Virgie, KY.; uncle, Dave Osborne of Melvin, KY., and many nieces and nephews.

Gary retired from Ford Motor Company in Hapeville, GA in November of 2006 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Rex Memorial Baptist Church in Stockbridge, GA. for 15 years where he served as Deacon, Music Director, Clerk, and Sunday School Superintendent. He sang for the glory of the LORD. He had numerous friends where he worked and at Rex Memorial Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and was loved by many and will be missed by all the people that he touched with his music and his testimony. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 12-2 and 6-8 P.M.
