Mr. George David Horner, 75, of McDonough, passed away June 22, 2012. Born and raised in Tennessee, he was the son of the late Erwin and Louise Woodby Horner. George made the City of McDonough his home, serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals for our municipal government. He was a founding and active member of the Henry County Tennis Association, expanding the sport throughout the community. He took part in the process of building each court as well as the tennis center at Craig Park.

Mr. Horner is survived by his daughter, Ruth Ann Liggett, of McDonough; grandson, David Thomas Liggett and great-granddaughter, Brooke Liggett, of McDonough; mother of his children, Margaret Horner, of McDonough; son, Steve Horner, of Dothan, Ala.; sister, Helen (Joe) Sturgeon, of Knoxville, Tenn.

An informal gathering for Mr. Horner will be Saturday, June 30, from 3 p.m., to 5 p.m., at the Henry County Tennis Center at Richard Craig Park. Pastor Dave Riley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Operation GA Homefront, in memory of Mr. Horner.
