FRIDAY NIGHT STARS: Week 6

Several football players in Henry County had standout performances for their teams.

Here is a list of some of the top performances from last week’s games:

Trae Bonner, Luella: The junior running back is starting to heat up. Bonner rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns and also had an interception on defense in the Lions’ 24-21 loss to Alcovy.

Jesse Christensen, Dutchtown: The senior safety had a big night in the Bulldogs’ win Thursday night at Spalding. Christensen had 10 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Timarcus Cullins, Stockbridge: He played a major role in helping hold the Bears to a season-low 14 points in the Tigers upset win. Cullins had three sacks to help lead the defensive effort.

Bradley Dewberry, Eagle’s Landing: The junior quarterback bounced back from a poor performance to finish 19 of 34 passing with two touchdowns and 240 yards in the Golden Eagles’ 52-36 loss at Riverdale.

Brandon Durden, Dutchtown: The junior cornerback is quickly emerging into one of the top cover corners and playmakers in the county. Durden had an interception and crucial special teams tackles in the Bulldogs’ 24-12 win at Spalding on Thursday.

Trenton Earl, Stockbridge: The senior quarterback was instrumental in the Tigers’ upset win over No. 2 Griffin. He rushed for 117 yards and passed for 155 as the Tigers became the first Henry County school to ever defeat Griffin.

Dalton Etheridge, ELCA: The junior quarterback finished 9 of 12 passing for 133 yards and had eight carries for 41 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers’ 42-3 victory at Holy Innocents’ on Saturday.

Keyante Green, ELCA: Back on the field after missing the past two games, the senior running back returned in force. Green rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries in the Chargers’ victory at Holy Innocents’ on Saturday.

Corey Holloway, Eagle’s Landing: The junior running back had another huge effort for the Golden Eagles in a loss. Holloway rushed for 224 yards and two touchdowns on just 18 carries in Eagle’s Landing’s 52-36 loss to Riverdale.

Donovahn Jones, Dutchtown: The senior quarterback had another solid performance in the Bulldogs’ win Thursday night at Spalding. Jones finished the game 8 of 10 passing for 100 yards and one touchdown.

Tevin Jones, Luella: The senior defensive lineman had eight tackles in the Lions’ loss to Alcovy in a Region 2-AAAAAA contest. He also had 1.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry and pass breakup.

Andrus Guillen, Stockbridge: The senior kicker hit perhaps the biggest field goal in Henry County history with his 27-yarder at the buzzer to lift the Tigers to a win over second-ranked Griffin. It was the first time ever that a Henry County team has defeated Griffin.

Mannie Lowery, Luella: The senior linebacker had a team-leading 11 tackles, including three solo and four first hits in a Region 2-AAAAAA loss to Alcovy. he also had two tackle for losses and a forced fumble.

Malcolm Miller, Woodland: The running back had 95 yards on 22 carries in the Wolfpack loss to Jonesboro. He scored three touchdowns in the game.

Rodel Shorter, Dutchtown: The junior wide receiver had a break-out game in the Bulldogs’ 24-21 win at Spalding on Thursday. Shorter had nine catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns, one for 75-yards.

Union Grove offensive line: With the blocking of offensive linemen Nick Davis, Lane Henderson, Matt Ivey, David Durden, Grayson Fuller and fullback Tyler Vaughn, the Wolverines helped running back Derrick Craine rush for 192 yards on 32 carries in a win over Northgate.

Keenan Wise, Locust Grove: The quarterback had 97 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the Wildcats’ win over North Clayton at Tara Stadium. He also passed for 127 yards on 10 of 18 passing in the game.
