Woodland picked the right time to end a four-game losing streak.
Malcolm Miller rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Wolfpack to a 23-14 Homecoming victory over Locust Grove on Friday in their Region 4-AAAA opener.
Miller rushed for touchdowns of 37 and 19 yards for Woodland (2-4, 1-0), which ended Locust Grove’s school-best five game winning streak.
Taylor Poff threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Darrow Ramsey and Khai Ngo added a field goal.
Locust Grove fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the region.
Ola 49, Mount Zion 24
JoJo Spann scored a pair of touchdowns as Ola won a Region 4-AAAAA, Division A game at home.
In addition to Spann’s TDs, the Mustangs got rushing touchdowns from Greg Walker and Coy Waters. Ryan John returned an interception for a touchdown as Ola improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the region.
Mount Zion dropped to 0-6 and 0-2.
ELCA 62, Mount Vernon Presbyterian 0
The top-ranked Chargers cruised to their 22nd straight Region 5-A victory. Mount Vernon is in its first season as a Georgia High School Association team after playing in the Georgia Independent School Association.
North Clayton 19, Upson-Lee 14
La’Darrius Mathis scored two touchdowns as the Eagles won their first game of the season.
The senior had a touchdown reception and run as North Clayton improved to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in Region 4-AAAA, Division B.
