McDONOUGH — The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Thanksgiving Camp Nov. 19-21 from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., during a holiday break for Henry County Schools. The camp is designed for children ages 5 to 12 at a cost of $75 per child.

Camps will be at Heritage Park in McDonough, the J.P. Moseley Recreation Center and the Fairview Recreation Center, both in Stockbridge. Activities will include games, arts and crafts and a field trip to Fun Bowl in McDonough.

Tina Fuss coordinates the camp program, which is in its fifth year. Fuss said 60 to 80 kids participate in the camp each year.

“It keeps the kids off the streets,” said Fuss. “A lot of them are sitting home, watching TV or playing with their XBox, not getting exercise. We get them up and moving.”

Fuss said the camps allow kids to build friendships with others while helping parents who have to work during the holiday break.

“We offer the camps for the parents that need it for their children,” she said.

Registration will be held weekdays Oct. 29 until Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all camp locations and the Locust Grove Recreation Center.

Campers may also register online at www.hcprd.org. Space is limited.
