Henry to host Parent University

McDONOUGH — Henry County Schools will host a district-wide Parent University seminar Tuesday, “Tips and Treats for Henry County Families.”

The event is being sponsored by Communities in Schools of Henry County. It will feature Taifa Smith Butler of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute.

Butler ran unsuccessfully in 2010 for the District IV school board seat. She has previous experience as director of policy and communications with Georgia Family Connection Partnership and as a community outreach consultant and research associate with Georgia Academy for Children and Youth Professionals.

She plans to speak about families and how parents can develop relationships with their children to improve their academic performance in school.

The seminar will be from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Henry County Board of Education Central Offices, 33 Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough. Refreshments will be provided.
