Jones book signing upcoming in downtown McDonough

McDONOUGH — Local Author Anne B. Jones said writing books has allowed her to experience life.

“I have been put in a race car at Atlanta Motor Speedway by a NASCAR champion,” said Jones. “I’ve been to sites where a fictitious serial killer in one of my books hid his victims. Writing is my passion and it is a passport to the world.”

Jones, who lives in Jackson, will sign copies of five of her books Sept. 13 during Ladies Night Out, sponsored by Main Street McDonough. The event will be held at Blumen Trio Floral Design, 19 Griffin St.

Jones, a former teacher in DeKalb County, has written seven books since 2004. They range from histories of NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves to thrillers like “Tides of Fear.”

Earlier this year, she released another work titled “A Light on Peachtree: A History of the Atlanta Woman’s Club.”

Jones said writing has taught her a valuable lesson about people.

“Writers and reporters know a secret, and that is that if you can tell people they have been selected for an interview, they will give you information that will not only interest and entertain you but help you in your own life,” said Jones. “You can learn about the arts, sports, social issues — whatever you wish.”

Blumen Trio owner Bob Knowles has hosted book signings for Jones in previous years. When the opportunity came to do so for Ladies Night Out, he jumped at the chance.

“We’ve had a big demand for her to come out again,” said Knowles. “Ladies Night Out makes one of our best days of the month. It’s very big for us. The ladies who come out are very supportive.”

Knowles renovated his flower shop and combined with J’Rose Fashion Accessories. Both businesses will be highlighted during Ladies Night Out along with Donna Moreno, a licensed massage therapist from The Earth Elements Massage Therapy. She will give free chair massages from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
