PREP ROUNDUP: Union Grove's Betsa notches 1,000th career strikeout

McDONOUGH — Union Grove senior pitcher Megan Betsa reached a significant milestone Tuesday in the Lady Wolverines' 17-0 win in three innings at home over Creekside in a Region 4-AAAAA game.

In the first inning, Betsa struck out the 1,000th batter of her high school career. Betsa went on to pitch just the first inning, getting the other two outs via strikeout.

Sophomore Madison Moore pitched the final two innings, striking out the side in both.

Union Grove improved to 8-2-2 as it goes into the Veteran's Park Memorial Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Watkinsville.

Locust Grove sweeps tri-match

LOCUST GROVE — The Lady Wildcats bounced back from a disappointing area loss Tuesday with two non-area wins at home.

Locust Grove got a 2-0 victory over Henry County and an impressive 2-1 win over Union Grove.

It was the second victory over Union Grove (16-6, 4-1 Area 4-AAAAA) this season for No. 7-ranked Locust Grove, which improved to 14-5 overall.

Everyone wins at Luella

LOCUST GROVE — Teams traded wins Tuesday night in a non-area tri-match at Luella.

Luella defeated Ola in two games, 27-25, 26-24.

Strong Rock defeated Luella, 25-20, 28-26.

Ola defeated Strong Rock, 25-19, 25-16.

Luella improved to 11-8 overall and 1-0 in Area 2-AAAAAA. Ola, which recently entered the PrepCountry.com Class AAAA Coaches' Poll at No. 9, dropped to 16-4 overall, while Strong Rock moved to 14-7.

Woodland sweeps tri-match

The Lady Wolfpack extended their unbeaten streak in a pair of non-area matches on the road.

Woodland needed three games to beat Mary Persons (25-4, 24-26, 25-17) and Northside-Warner Robins (25-19, 27-29, 25-16).
