Eagle’s Landing Christian quarterback Dalton Eldridge accounted for seven touchdowns as the top-ranked Chargers defeated Hapeville Charter 56-14 Friday in a non-region contest.
The junior quarterback had three rushing and four passing touchdowns in the win in Union City. Three of the Chargers’ scores were setup by the defense as Brad Moore and Chase Burdette had an interception each. Defensive end Andrew Williams had a fumble recovery to set up a score.
With the win, the Chargers improved to 3-1 heading into next week’s bye week. ELCA takes on Holy Innocents’ Sept. 29 at Riverwood High in the first Region 5-A game of the season.
Eldridge had touchdown runs of 2, 3 and 2 yards in the first half as the Chargers led 42-0 at the intermission.
Matthew East scored on a 30-yard touchdown reception and he also had a long touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Chargers.
Stockbridge 34, Columbia 6:
Quarterback Trenton Earl threw for two touchdowns and running back Malik Bryan rushed for a pair as the Tigers won the non-region game at home.
Earl connected with Nigel Hughes on a 15-yard reception and also threw a 65-yard scoring pass to Kedarius Webster in the win to improve to 1-1 on the season. Bryan added a couple rushing touchdowns.
Javon Brandon scored on a 30-yard interception to help hand Columbia (2-1) its first loss of the season.

Eagle’s Landing 29:
Golden Eagles tight end Bill Teknipp had two receiving touchdowns from Bradley Dewberry in the loss.
Drewberry also threw a scoring pass to Warren Wright. Corey Holloway scored on a rushing touchdown as the Golden Eagles dropped to 0-3 on the season. It was Upson-Lee’s first win as it improved to 1-2.
Locust Grove 34, Morrow 6:
Wildcats quarterback Keen Wise accounted for three touchdowns in the win. He had a 3-yard touchdown run and touchdown throws of 53 and 97 yards as the Wildcats improved to 2-1on the season.
Fred McKibbon caught the 53-yard scoring pass on the second play of the game. Wise’s 97-yarder went to Cortez McDowell, who had three touchdowns in last week’s victory over Ola.
Garrett Wallace closed out the scoring on a touchdown run.
Morrow dropped to 1-2 on the season.
McIntosh 14, Ola 6:
JoJo Spann returned a blocked extra-point attempt for the Mustangs’ lone score.
Spann has scored in all three games for Ola 1-2 this season.
