Jimmy Hastings Glass, 79, of McDonough, Ga., died Thursday, April 25, 2013. Mr. Glass was born Aug. 29, 1933, in Henry County to the late Rubye Ford and Thomas Hastings Glass. Jimmy was also preceded in death by his brother, James Paschal Glass of Tucker, Ga., and sister Rubye Kathleen Glass Barnes of Locust Grove, Ga.
He served as sheriff of Henry County and on the Henry County Board of Education. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of VFW and Moose Lodge.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Martha Hall Glass, McDonough; stepson Don (Rhonda) Hall, McDonough and their children, Korry Hall, Atlanta; Kelly Hall (Steve) Karius, and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Karius, Apec, N.C.; and nieces and nephews, Peggy (Roman) Gau, McDonough and their children, Robert and Karen, Elliot and Olivia Stewart, Memphis, Tenn.; Ryan and Jenn, Neal Stewart, McDonough; Robin and Mario, and Nico Depaoli, Sugarhill, Ga.; Pamela Cates, McDonough, and her son, Chase Cates, McDonough; Paula and Bob Engeman Jr., McDonough and their son, Robert Engeman III, McDonough; J. Paschal Barnes, Jacksonville, Fla., and his children, Shawn and Shirley, Rhiannon Barnes; Kyla Merson, McDonough; William P. (Sara) Barnes, Jacksonville, Fla.; Johnny (Laura) Glass, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Ashley Glass, Charleston, S.C.; and sister-in-law Alene Glass, Tucker, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Leon Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to your favorite charity.
