McGruff the Crime Dog will make an appearance.
ELLENWOOD — A free annual event to promote crime and drug prevention awareness will be held next month.
Henry County Commission District V Safety and Protection Night will be held Thursday, May 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Home Depot, 65 Fairview Road in Ellenwood.
The event, hosted by Commissioner Bruce Holmes, will give citizens the opportunity to meet with local public safety personnel and learn about the programs and services they offer.
Organizers touted the event in a press release as one of the best ways for local authorities to interact and develop relationships with the community.
Local elected officials will also be on hand to answer questions and discuss citizen concerns.
In addition to displays by Henry County law enforcement and public safety agencies, McGruff the Crime Dog will make an appearance, and local businesses will set up booths.
There will also be a DJ, entertainment and free food and beverages.
More information about the event can be obtained by contacting Sgt. Jimmie Spence at 770-288-7141 or Sgt. Jason Duffey at 770-288-8275.
