Winning $500K lottery ticket sold in McDonough

McDONOUGH — A winning lottery ticket worth $500,000 was sold to a woman from McDonough.

Chevron Food Mart, located at 2778 Highway 81 E. in McDonough, sold the winning ticket from the Georgia Lottery instant game $500,000 Green.

The winner, Amy Painter of McDonough, recently claimed her prize at the Georgia Lottery’s headquarters in Atlanta.

The gas station also sold a winning Jumbo Bucks Classic instant ticket worth $50,000 in 2012.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.

All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.

Lottery officials say, more than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
