James “Jim” Chambers, 82, of McDonough, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012. He was born in Conley, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Martha Corine Chambers. Jim was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and retired from Carpenters Local 225.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jewell; children, Charlene Bowman (Tony), of McDonough; Joseph Chambers (Debra), of Stockbridge; brother, Benny Chambers (Annette), of McDonough; sisters, Martha Jo Miese (Jerry), of Rochester, N.Y.; Linda Dodson (Tommy), of McDonough; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Al O’Quinn and Rev. E. C. Chatham, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 3, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
