Lillian K. Ito, 58, of Stockbridge, passed away Dec. 15, 2012 at home. Lilli was born and raised in Japan. After attending international schools in Kobe and Tokyo, she attended the University of Hawaii and then San Francisco State earning a degree in Art History. As a child, Lilli volunteered as a candy striper in U.S. military hospitals in Japan during the Vietnam War.
Her working career included being a waitress, a San Francisco jewelry store manager, a realtor, a rental property owner / manager, a gift-wrapping expert at Williams Sonoma, and a customer service representative for a financial group. The highlight of her working career was 26 years of service with Delta Air Lines as an international flight attendant language specialist qualified in Japanese and Italian. Lilli was an extraordinary lady who enjoyed many hobbies including tennis, yoga, cooking, reading, sewing, travel, and horticulture where she became a Master Gardener. She was very active in her local community serving as a committee chairman. She found peace in her life through religion.
Lilli was preceded in death by her father, Chester H. Ito, who retired from the U.S. military and government. She is survived by her mother, Toyoko, and two siblings, Lucy and Clyde (Hisae), as well as a countless number of close friends, coworkers, and neighbors whom she regarded as her family.
