Mr. Tyre Ellis Upchurch, 88, of McDonough, passed away Jan. 10, 2013. He was born in McDonough to the late Jesse Tyre and Lucinda Turner Upchurch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Piper Upchurch in 2008 and by five sisters. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He retired after over 35 years with Snapper and enjoyed farming.
Survivors include his children, Dayna (Melvin) Mahaffey, of Ellijay, Kenneth (Wanda) Upchurch, of Marietta, Dennis (Debbie) Upchurch, of Pulaski, Tenn., Robyn (Stewart) Ryan, of Cumming; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Lamar Upchurch, of Macon; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. from Bethany Baptist Church. Rev. Chuck Sheppard will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Friday from 6–8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions are asked to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Tyre Upchurch.
