Stockbridge Council names Milliron administrator

STOCKBRIDGE — The Stockbridge City Council named the city's treasurer, David Milliron, the new city administrator, Monday.

Stockbridge has been without a full-time city administrator since last spring.

The vote to fill the vacancy with Milliron was 4-0-1, with Councilman Alphonso Thomas abstaining on all appointments during the Monday evening meeting.

For complete details see the next edition of the Henry Daily Herald.

Hmmm. Looks as thought the current Mayor needs to be investigated! Typical Henry County politics going on in Stockbridge, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours... Seems strange that Millirons came in as Treasure and is now City Administrator? Could this have been the plan all along? Where's your following Charter and Transparency now? Guess the job description was changed to fit him, like it was changed to fit Auletta.

Stockbridge now has a respected individual at the helm. Over the past year Mr. Milliron has proven his worth to BOTH City Council and the Citizens. As reported through various informational sources .... he has uncovered and rectified numerous redundancies and inaccurcies within the city budget, he has put into place logical and sound programs which were mandated by law but were never inacted, he has clearly outlined a formal purchasing proceedure and monetary management control and he has negotiated more money than ever imagined from LOST negotiations when the city was actually facing a large potential revenue decline! There are numerous other examples where his expertise kept the city from defaulting on various other legal proceedures and reporting as well. The man appears to work in unison with the new Mayor AND members of Council.

In the past month or so, since the new Mayor has taken office, I have quickly observed numerous programs, policies, procedures and efficiences which have been implemented ... ALL for the betterment of the community. It apears to me that our city leadership has taken charge of the situation and is moving forward in the right direction.

One last observation ..... I have met and spoken with the majority of these elected officials. They are working as hard as they can, together, to reset the correct course for the city. You may not know it but these people spend a substantial amount of their own personal time, effort and energy on behalf of the city.

These people were elected to do a job. Let's let them do it!!

tiredofthetermitspolitics: not sure of your reference to Mr. Auletta but if you check the stockbridge city charter, you will see that the job description is set by ordinance and cannot be changed without a majority vote of the city council. i would encourage you to check your facts by taking a look at the city code of ordinances, specifically 2.12.035 - City administrator. i have posted a link here to make it convenient for you and others to see the facts. http://library.municode.com/HTML/16645/level2/TIT2GEGO_CH2.12AD.html#TIT2GEGO_CH2.12AD_2.12.035CIAD

@southsidediva: Oh now you want to abide by the Charter? This Council ignored the Charter in 2012. It's true that the majority council can change the ordinance. Oh we citizens witnessed the majority of this council make a mockery out of the Charter in 2012. Question is, why did the majority council in 2012 vote and approve several items by Resolution that were required, according to the Charter, to be done by Ordinance ? Prime example, the Organizational Chart. But in 2013, you voted on the Organizational Chart by Ordinance as the law requires. Was the vote in 2012 illegal? Hmmm. A definite phrase that I heard recently comes to mind. With absolute power comes corruption.

What IS the price an “elected, appointed or hired” government official/employee must pay for their malfeasance? RESIGNATION? TERMINATION WITH SIX MONTHS PAY? BOVINE MANURE!

If WE THE PEOPLE wants prudent efficient, effective and economical government; WE THE PEOPLE MUST DEMAND IT!

Folks, the time has come to DEMAND that our Henry County District Attorney, James L. Wright, III PROSECUTE “appointed, elected or hired” government officials/employees CRIMINALLY AND CIVILLY for their malfeasance.

TruthNJustice: You are correct with something that you have stated; the new mayor has TAKEN office. What you need to know is the process of that takeover was not right

There have been several irregularities by this Council, and the citizens didn't make the charge to remove them from office, and we can. So when you say the mayor and city administrator are all working together, of course they are. They all worked together to remove the Mayor from office. Their plan worked.

Southsidediva: You have referenced the Charter and the job description for the City Administrator by ordinance. I specifically recall the City Council and the City Attorney ignoring the Charter and giving those same powers to the City Treasurer last year, and they did it by Resolution. Not by Ordinance. Why didn't quote the City Charter then?

Last year, the Organizational Chart had the Treasurer, David Milliron, reporting to the Mayor and Council. Now, the Organizational Chart has the Treasurer reporting to the City Administrator, Milliron Milliron and not to the Mayor and Council.

It was announced in a council meeting well in advance that the Customer Service Supervisor would be retiring at the end of the year, 2012. Interesting that the position was never advertised internally or externally. It was handed to an employee without having them having to apply. Yet, when the General Maintenance Supervisor became vacant, that position was advertised. Can you say, DOUBLE STANDARD - aka - Good 'ol boy system.

This is why this administration doesn't have the respect and trust of the Citizens of Stockbridge.

Mr. Southside diva. Yes the qualifications were changed to fit you. And of course it's easy to get council to approve you when they are in your back pocket. All you have to do, is I dont know, party a little, take em to your cabin, get some tickets... It's so easy with that current council. Also, trying to make it look as though this council is finally making progress won't work for the mayoral election. So enjoy your perks while they last!

Truthnjustice- seems like your a little too involved with the back room deals and executive session. Which tells me a lot! Also, all Millirons did was copy Avondale estates. That doesn't make a good administrator. To take someone else's ideas and make them your own. And for his own town to not want him as their mayor says it all! Word is he's such a snake that no one who knows him can stand him so you would have to be one getting something from it as well.... Maybe it's time for a new investigation!

Amazing how someone with a background in journalism and no previous experience as a city manager gets this job "HANDED TO THEM"!

It is unfortunate for citizens that the City of Stockbridge has a weak City Council. You only have one Council member that will even challenge the issues. Kudos to you Mr. Thomas. We definitely recognize that you are looking out for the citizens. I don't know when the Mayor and other four members of the Council are meeting with the City Administrator, but it's not in a public forum. Buschman, Cochran, Dabney and Steinberg have been given directions on how to vote before they enter the chamber. And, it's as if they have a script as to who is supposed to make a motion and second.

I remember these officials running and I remember their platforms. Buschman and Steinberg, you have completely abandoned your platforms.

The Citizens of Stockbridge will surely REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!
