William Douglas Walker, 59, of Fayetteville, passed away May 22, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He retired as president of Walker Concrete. He was an aviation enthusiast who loved to fly helicopters and planes.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Walker; daughters Jo Ana and her husband, Ashley Schine of Fayetteville, Susanna and her husband, Sean Connor, of Decatur, Madeline Walker of Fayetteville and her fiancé, Peter Walker, of Australia and Molly Walker of Fayetteville; grandchildren Avery Schine, and Morgan and Rowan Connor; parents Barney and Sue Walker; mother-in-law Arbie Bridges of McDonough; sister Rose and her husband, Wayne Harris; brother Dell and his wife, Andrea Walker; sister Jamie and her husband, Jeff Gilmore, all of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jack.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at Fayetteville First Baptist Church Worship Center, Fayetteville. Mr. Walker will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Rev. Glenn Stringham, Dr. Benny Tate, Rev. Jim Battles and Rev. Jim Thomas will officiate. The burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
