Henry County commissioners agreed that before they can sign off on the management of Atlanta South Regional Airport in Hampton, they have to first get through race weekend.
County leaders have unveiled a plan to manage operations at Atlanta South Regional Airport over the next decade.
The first of a series of public hearings on a millage rate adjustment, will be held Wednesday, starting at 9 a.m., and later at 6 p.m., in the Community Room of the Henry County Administration Building, 140 Henry Pkwy., in McDonough. Next Wednesday, on Aug. 1, at 9 a.m., the final public hearing will be conducted, and a new millage rate is set to be adopted at 10 a.m., according to County Clerk Shay Mathis.
County Manager: ‘We have cut to the bone’
Henry County’s tax digest has dropped by roughly $6 billion, since 2008, and the average home value has plummeted from $181,000, that same year, to $107,000, in 2012. The Henry County Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on a budget in the coming days, to keep operations afloat in a struggling economy.
A potential millage-rate increase is one measure county leaders are considering as they attempt to finalize the upcoming budget. The existing millage rate is 11.75 mills.
Commissioners enact new eligibility requirements
Henry County Commissioners have officially named Fred Auletta as their county manager.
Local government leaders will meet with area residents in the coming weeks to discuss a plan for using federal funds to help families who are struggling in the current economic climate.
Auletta to become Deputy County Manager
Henry County commissioners are expected to name a new District II commissioner today, but their plan to hire a former commissioner, Fred Auletta, as the new county manager, has hit a snag. He is expected to be named Deputy County Manager, instead.
