Next Wednesday, on Aug. 1, at 9 a.m., the final public hearing will be conducted, and a new millage rate is set to be adopted at 10 a.m., according to County Clerk Shay Mathis.

Henry County’s tax digest has dropped by roughly $6 billion, since 2008, and the average home value has plummeted from $181,000, that same year, to $107,000, in 2012. The Henry County Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on a budget in the coming days, to keep operations afloat in a struggling economy.
