IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF HENRY COUNTY STATE OF GEORGIA In re Children of JASMAL JAMES and PETITION TO CHANGE NAMES OF MINOR CHILDREN Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 19-2-1, Petitioner Jasmal James moves to change the names of her minor children, presently known as Jy'Kyng Justin Lamont James and Ja'Ajah Justysse La'Marriah Smith (hereinafter “the children”). Petitioner wishes to change Jy'Kyng's name to Jy'Kyng Jessie James and change Ja'Ajah's name to Dior Ja'Ajah Tiffany James. In support of this request, Petitioner shows this Court as follows: 1. Plaintiff is the natural mother of Jy'Kyng James and Ja'Ajah Smith. 2. Petitioner resides in Henry County, Georgia. 3. The children's natural father is Justin Lamont Smith 4. The children's' father abandoned them within the meaning of O.C.G.A. §15-12-1 by failing to visit them for the six-month period immediately preceding the filing of this petition and also by failing to meaningfully communicate with them during that period. 5. Ja'Ajah Smith wants to change her last name because her father abused the Petitioner. She wants to change her first and middle names to honor her late grandmother Tiffany “Dior” Raquel James. Jy'Kyng does not want to bear the middle name of a man who abused his mother and abandoned him. 6. Justin Smith perpetrated acts of family violence battery, as described more fully in the attached affidavit. WHEREFORE Petitioner prays that Ja'Ajah's name be changed to Dior Ja'Ajah Tiffany James and Jy'Kyng's name be changed to Jy'Kyng Jessie James.
