During the 50 years following the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, many of the eye witnesses of Jesus ministry were dying off, so that there were fewer to tell of this awesome event.

Luke was a great believer in Jesus and recognized that His story must be documented and written down so that future generations would be able to read and study the true story of these events exactly as they happened. Luke interviewed many of the eye witnesses he could locate, those men who actually were present when Jesus was teaching and healing the people of His day.
