STOCKBRIDGE — City Councilman John Blount will host his Annual National Day of Prayer Initiative on Thursday, May 6, 6:30 p.m. This year’s initiative will be virtual and streamed on Facebook Live at @StockbridgeCityHall. Blount’s annual event focuses on unity through prayer. He extends an invitation to all members of the community to join him as he focuses on building and maintaining genuine community unity now and in the future.

“COVID-19 has truly impacted our communities, and now is the time to pull together through prayer,” said Blount. “Many people have experienced loss and suffering because of COVID-19, and it will take all of us to heal as a nation. Prayer can be a powerful tool in every aspect. Everyone is encouraged to join us as we advocate unity, healing and peace for all Americans, regardless of religion. We have more in common than we know.”

Blount’s Annual National Day of Prayer event is free and open to everyone. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance recognized on the first Thursday of May. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

Blount’s National Day of Prayer Initiative can be viewed live on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 6:30 pm EDT and on-demand after the initial broadcast by visiting
