McDONOUGH — The history of McDonough is deep-rooted for most Henry County residents who have traveled from its downtown square to the site of the Camp Creek train wreck in 1900.

These are two of many connections that Amanda Beck finds during her monthly visits to McDonough Memorial Cemetery, located along Macon Street in McDonough. However, her ambitions stray from the various historical sites to find the graves of those who have offered their lives in serving the nation.

A Government-furnished headstone is provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the burial of fallen veterans, at no charge, upon request.
