According to new numbers released by the Georgia Department of Public Health, Georgia now has more than 27,000 COVID-19 cases reported.

At noon Friday, there have been 27,023 total COVID-19 cases reported, that's nearly 1,000 more than was reported Thursday at the same time. The state's death toll from the disease is now 1,140 — up 33 from Thursday at the same time.

Is this fake news?

I ask because when I follow the link to the “Georgia Department of Public Health Daily Status Report” page there seems to be an incredible disconnect between what the paper is reporting and the “COVID-19 Cases Over Time” chart.

According to the chart the “newly confirmed COVID-19 cases” by data are:

Friday 01May20 was 32

Thursday 30Apr20 was 82

Wednesday 29Arp20 was 269

If I have missed something please explain.

A time element is included in this article to give context to the data. This information was as of Friday at noon. If you click on the link, it will not give you that information, it will give you all the data in real time. The link is there for reference so readers can get an update of the latest numbers. I hope this helps clarify.
