Henry County Police Sgt. Robert Scott (center) was named North Precinct Officer of the Month for December 2019. While off duty, someone contacted Scott about an Ellenwood veteran suffering from PTSD and thinking of suicide. A fellow veteran of 20 years, Scott responded with a member of the Negotiator team and spent over an hour "talking with the victim (and) sharing his own experiences and was able to convince the veteran in need that suicide wasn’t the answer." Henry County Police Officer Jarett Dempsey (center) was named South Precinct Officer of the Month for January 2020. Dempsey was recognized for spotting an AR-15 with a 45-round magazine during a Jan. 11 traffic stop. With temperatures in the 60s that day, Dempsey also recovered a ski mask. The suspect with the AR-15 was charged with a weapons violation.

On Jan. 24, Henry County Police Officer Harrison Smith of the COPS Unit (center) Ola High School students in Mr. Stower's public safety class. They discussed effective community policing and the students presented class projects, including a program to help build positive relationships between law enforcement and the public.

For the week ending Feb. 22, 2020, the Henry County Fires Department ran 540 calls, including four structure fires, three grass fires, 387 medical calls, and over 150 other incidents. The HCFD Training Division moved into Week 6 of fire recruit and EMT recruit training, the Paramedic class moved into week 20, and recruits continued firefighter survival training and completed National Registry Refresher and Vehicle Extrication.
