STOCKBRIDGE – Elton Alexander will hold a town hall meeting on Thursday evening in the Winslow subdivision.

Alexander, a member of the Stockbridge City Council, will host the meeting at 7 p.m. at the Winslow at Eagles Landing clubhouse, located at 900 Maple Leaf Drive in McDonough.

The meeting is free and open to the public, and Alexander welcomes all community members to the town hall.

According to a release from the city of Stockbridge, the meeting will highlight Alexander’s safety concerns for the new Campground Road extension project, which will run past the Winslow subdivision, along with several others, he said.

"The roadway is scheduled to be opened with no sidewalks, no lighting or no bike lanes compromising pedestrian safety,” Alexander said in a press release. “Both Henry County and the city of Stockbridge require all new roads be constructed with sidewalks but those requirements are being ignored on this major highway project. Stockbridge communities like Winslow at Eagles Landing, the Magnolias, the Summit and the Terrace border the project.”

Alexander said several unincorporated communities, such as Vineyards and Wilshire Park, will border the project.

“Numerous other communities will be impacted,” Alexander said. “No new roads should be built under these substandard guidelines in 2019 compromising pedestrian safety with three schools in the area. Our discussion will center around ways to improve the project based on your feedback and desire for walkability and improved safety measures like lighting."
