Sabrina Wyllie-Adams, M.D., a Piedmont Healthcare family medicine physician in Stockbridge, said the fear, also known as trypanophobia, is common, even in adults. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 25 percent of adults in the U.S. have a fear of needles.
