The 4th Annual Celebration of Hope Community Benefit Luncheon was held Nov. 16 at the Shiloh Community Life Center in McDonough.

McDONOUGH — Shiloh Community Life Center hosted the 4th Annual Celebration of Hope Community Benefit Luncheon last month.

The Nov. 16 event put a spotlight on public service in Henry County and highlighted the impact and value of community leadership and service, according to organizers.

The luncheon called attention to Students Working to Achieve Greatness Program of Connecting Henry. SWAG is a GED program for students ages 16-24. Monies totaling $2,000 from the luncheon were donated to SWAG.

The 2019 Public Service Award recipients are:

♦ Rev. Dr. Terrance Gattis and Rev. Dr. Elaine Gattis of Mt. Olive Baptist Church

♦ Sandra Gravely, A Friend’s House

♦ Sabrina Crawford, Gigi’s House

♦ Tiffany Austin, Henry County Schools

♦ Lori Harris, Linda Clark and David Clark, Our World School

Several local youths were also recognized for their academic and community service. They are:

♦ Alexander Monroe

♦ Treandos Thornton

♦ Hade McCray

♦ Brittney Browne

♦ Noah Thornton

♦ Bryce Browne

♦ Brooklyn Greene

The award-winning Giselle DiBlasi School of Ballet, comedian Treandos and poet Steaven Misher performed at the event. Teen journalist Tyrik Wynn served as the master of ceremonies. Community advocate Careshia Moore was the keynote speaker.
