McDONOUGH – The new bridge on Blackhall Road over Rum Creek opened on Thursday.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the work teams still have a few tasks to complete before the project is finished. Motorists are encouraged to moderate their speeds and be alert when driving through the area, as crews and their equipment may still be in the work zone at various times.

If the workers need to utilize a lane of traffic, GDOT will work to announce the temporary closure in advance.

The entire project should be complete by the end of December 2019.

Blackhall Road was closed in August for the purpose of road construction. Motorists looking to go down the road were diverted to Walt Stephens Road, Flippen Road and Jodeco Road to get from one end of Blackhall Road to another.
