BOC approves agreement for police services in Stockbridge while city officials consider hiring security firm

STOCKBRIDGE — Police services in Stockbridge were a point of frustration Tuesday morning as Henry County commissioners were preparing to approve a long-expired service delivery agreement for law enforcement services within the city.

The agreement expired in December 2014, but Stockbridge officials did not want to renew the previous agreement that allowed for two officers dedicated to be in the city limits at all times each day of the week. The city, instead, has been considering contracting with a private security firm to provide police-type protection to its citizens at a lower cost than the county was offering.
