Intel shares drop sharply after it announces delay in next-generation chips

Intel was one of the worst-performing stocks Friday morning, falling as much as 17% after the company announced its next-generation chips will be delayed.

The company expects a six-month delay in its 7-nanometer chip product, Intel said in its quarterly earnings release Thursday night.
