Candidate withdraws from Stockbridge mayoral race

STOCKBRIDGE— Just days after qualifying for Stockbridge mayor ended, one candidate has decided to withdraw his candidacy.

City Clerk Vanessa Holiday announced Tuesday that Houston Nelson, who qualified for the vacant mayor seat July 15, has withdrawn from the race. Houston also vied for the seat in the 2013 election. He did not return calls for comment as of press time Tuesday.
